Call for White Paper Topics
The Minnesota Ground Water Association invites the membership to participate in the preparation of white papers that address issues relevant to the future of Minnesota groundwater and associated users. Such white papers, based on sound, science-based information, are meant to 1) neutrally describe issues and the related science-based information to better inform the profession, involved decision makers, and the general public; 2) stimulate pertinent discussion and resolution of groundwater issues in Minnesota; and 3) reach out beyond our professional community in a meaningful and balanced manner. All MGWA white papers are intended to be consensus documents incorporating the differing viewpoints associated with the defined issue.
How to submit a proposal
Any MGWA Member may submit a proposed topic using the nomination form. The application must be no longer than two pages. Reviewers will not read additional material that is provided. The topic may be submitted as a file attachment to office@mgwa.org.
Topic selection and general schedule
Within a month of the submittal deadline, the MGWA White Paper Committee will oversee the review of submitted topics for white papers and suggest a priority list for the MGWA Board to consider. Final selection of the first successful topic will be made by the MGWA Board by late winter and will be announced in the Spring MGWA Newsletter and during the Spring Conference. Topics that are not selected during a specific call will be retained on a prioritized standing list and reviewed periodically.
What happens after a topic is selected?
The MGWA White Paper Committee and the Board will prepare a scoping document for developing the actual White Paper and call for volunteers for a Work Group for the topic.
