Welcome to summer, fellow ground water professionals and enthusiasts! In a spring filled with a great abundance of precipitation, it has been a wonderful opportunity to appreciate all that Minnesota has to offer. Our family found all the wonders of karst still fulfilling in trout fishing on the Root River and touring Mystery Cave, pictured here. A poignant moment of the tour hit hard when it was made clear that we have visual evidence of a microplastic deposit now present in the cave. While not a surprise to the ground water community, it is a clear and present message that our fragile systems continue to be vulnerable to anthropogenic damage. Society’s marker bed is clear.
The good work of educating both professionals and the public continues onward in the face of challenges to preserving and managing ground water resources with both our Association and Foundation. The Association is kicking off these warm months with a flurry of activity behind-the-scenes. We’re busy working on operational and administrative functions, we’re also engaged with our committees on growing and engaging with our membership in the months ahead. We hope you enjoyed the Spring Virtual Conference and will consider submitting your abstract for November’s Fall Conference. Look for a casual get together announcement coming soon as well.
