I have had the privilege of working on many applied aspects of the groundwater sciences in Minnesota for the past thirty years. For the past three years, I have worked at the Minnesota Department of Health, serving as the State Drinking Water Administrator. In this capacity I get to work with a great team of dedicated professionals who work to ensure the safety and reliability of public water supplies across Minnesota, the majority of which are groundwater based. Prior to that I spent over twenty years at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, working in many programs related to the investigation and cleanup of groundwater contamination, including managing the Superfund and Brownfield programs.
I received my education at the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai and at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, earning degrees in Applied Geology and Hydrogeology and a minor in Civil Engineering. I am also a registered Professional Geologist in Minnesota.
Our state is blessed with rich groundwater resources which play a critical role in our everyday lives as well as in the state’s economy. However, the need to apply the best science and well thought out policies for the sustainability of these resources is greater than ever. The Minnesota Ground Water Association continues to play a leading role in promoting both and serves to provide a unified voice for the groundwater professionals in the state. It will be a great honor to be associated with the Association and help in any way that I can to help attain our shared goal of advancing groundwater science and policy in the state.
