Preparation for the latest Minnesota Ground Water Association (MGWA) white paper on ground water recharge is about to begin. Are you interested to join three to five other groundwater scientists in writing this important new document?
MGWA defines a white paper (https://www.mgwa.org/white-papers/ ) as “an article that gives an unbiased evaluation and treatment of a topic for informational and educational purposes.” White papers are useful to non-expert decision makers as sources of neutral science-based information.
Past white papers have discussed manganese, ground water education, drainage, chloride, and the 1989 Groundwater Protection Act. A white paper on the topic of ground water data is currently under development.
The recharge white paper is provisionally titled “Ground Water Recharge Estimation in an Era of Rapid Environmental Change”. The MGWA Board has approved the topic and scope, and work now begins to write the 10-20 page summary paper, a shared effort that is expected to take approximately one year.
