I recently completed my PhD in May 2024 at the University of Wisconsin – Madison working with Professor Michael Cardiff in the Hydrogeology group in the Geoscience Department. The focus of my PhD dissertation is at the intersection of Hydrogeology and social science. I created a groundwater flow model around the community of Armenia, Wisconsin to understand depth of nitrate contamination in the community. Along with a team of researchers, I conducted the first of its kind water perspectives survey of rural Wisconsinites to quantify rural perceptions of risks to groundwater, water importance and value, sources of information and trust related to water issues, and understanding of groundwater. Additionally, I conducted a content analysis of media portrayals of groundwater in rural news to assess indirect methods of quantifying groundwater perspectives. I am originally from the Twin Cities and attended Carleton College for my undergraduate degree in Geology. I worked for the USGS Minnesota Science Center as a Hydrologic Technician before pursuing my graduate degree. I am now continuing my career as a Hydrologist at the USGS Upper Midwest Water Science Center based out of Madison, Wisconsin working on the groundwater characterization team.
