MGWA’s fall conference will be held on November 17th, 2022 and will focus on topics related to the interaction between mining activities and water resources.
Mining of industrial and metallic minerals contributes significantly to Minnesota’s economy and large mineral reserves position the state to continue to play a key role in meeting future global demand. Understanding, predicting, and managing the potential impacts from mining on the state’s water resources presents complex challenges that lie at the intersection of science, engineering, and public policy. The MGWA Fall Conference, “Minnesota Mining and Water Resources,” will feature presentations from those working on these challenges – from characterizing the complex hydrogeological and geochemical settings encountered during mining, to using site data and models to assess potential impacts from mining activities, to identifying approaches to address water quality concerns. Join us on November 17th to learn more and contribute to the conversation on these important topics.
The conference will take place at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center and will be our first in person MGWA conference since November 2019! Conference registration will also include admission to a social event following the conference to celebrate MGWA’s 40th anniversary. Watch your email for more details on conference registration, the speaker lineup, and the social event!
