Jim Walsh retired on November 1 after a 34-year career at MDH. Most of that time he was a hydrogelogist, working on a wide range of wellhead protection and research projects around the state, but for the last dozen years has been a hydrologist supervisor in the Source Water Protection Unit. Prior to coming to Minnesota, Jim had a 5-year career as a mineral exploration and mining geologist in the Black Hills. Jim is an avid musician and writer and plans to focus on these activities in retirement. Beyond that, he and his wife enjoy travel, especially to places with cool geology, and he’s sure that will continue, despite having too many rocks in the house and yard already.
