After many years managing the business operations of MGWA and MGWA Foundation, Jennie Leete and Sean Hunt are stepping down. Jennie did the layout of the page-formatted newsletter through 2019, organized the in-person meeting arrangements, carried out the financial accounting tasks (accounts receivable and accounts payable), filled out and submitted required federal/state information returns, and sent out invoices and checks as needed. Sean managed the web site, sent out email announcements, updated the membership database and online directory, laid out the white papers, processed conference feedback forms, conference registrations, and edited conference audio/video files. He sent out membership renewals, conference brochures, tracked foundation funding requests/donations and answered/forwarded email questions.
Both provided continuity and guidance to the boards of MGWA and MGWA Foundation. Jennie has helped run the operations since 1982, Sean has helped since 1990. The work spans the era of paste-up document layout in columns of text, lithographic services to transform photos for offset printing, to the rise of desktop publishing and laser printers, then publishing PDF files on the web site. They will continue in a basic capacity until the end of May as MGWA changes to new management.
Jennie and Sean end with these parting thoughts as they get ready for this next phase of their lives. “We think back to the late nights printing brochures and membership renewals, labeling mailing pieces, and dropping bundles at the post office, then the full days of setting up materials at conferences and answering questions and talking to people from behind the registration desk. We have enjoyed bringing people together to discuss Minnesota’s groundwater and learn from each other. Now we can plan more vacations/trips without that time conflicting with MGWA’s work needs.“
