I would bet that every one of our members’ households has purchased something from Amazon in the past year (if you haven’t, email the author of this article and she will donate $20 to the MGWA Foundation Unrestricted Fund for each). If you are buying something from Amazon, you can use Amazon Smile and a small percentage (0.5% of eligible purchases) is donated to MGWA. This is a win for MGWA.
Amazon has instructions on how to sign up for Amazon Smile at https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/community/how-to-sign-up-for-amazonsmile, but here are the instructions – tailored for MGWA.
- You need to already have an Amazon account.
- Go to https://smile.amazon.com/
You should reach a screen somewhat like this (it may have changed since these images were captured!)
- Sign in using your Amazon.com credentials
- Select Minnesota Ground Water Association Foundation (If you enter MGWA as I did, you will find that your other option is the Metropolitan Golf Writers Association, please select us!)
- At some point at the end of the process you will see these two screens – basically it is just reminding you that you have to use https://smile.amazon.com/ (as opposed to the ‘ordinary’ Amazon website):
- Now, all you need to do is bookmark https://smile.amazon.com/ , and remember to use it! This was the hardest thing for me to remember – but once it is part of your routine, it is easy!
- This is what you will see (with your details of course) at the top of your window when you use AmazonSmile
- If you use the Amazon Shopping App, go to https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/community/how-to-sign-up-for-amazonsmile and follow the instructions for how to turn on Amazon Smile (you have to scroll down to get to these instructions!
So, sign up, and start becoming a supporter of MGWA! If you feel ambivalent about supporting Amazon, know that you are still helping MGWA! Thank you from the MGWA Foundation.
