The Minnesota Ground Water Association Foundation (MGWAF) was formed by the Minnesota Ground Water Association (MGWA) to assist the MGWA in its mission to educate the general public regarding ground water resources. The MGWAF administers the funds set aside by the MGWA Board for education activities as well as generating additional funds and exploring funding opportunities.
The MGWA Foundation provides scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students and awards to students attending Hydrogeology Field Camps. University groups can apply for grants to cover costs for groundwater-related field trips. Funds have also been used to provide assistance for educational projects such as Children’s Water Festivals and other events held by Watershed Districts.
The MGWA Foundation funded the well and groundwater exhibit in the Science Museum of Minnesota’s Big Back Yard.
